Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take reservations?

We don’t take reservations (we’re a dive bar, c’mon), but if you’re going to come through with a massive party—say upwards of 15 people—it would be sweet of you to give us a heads-up, especially on the weekends! Just hit us up at party@skylark!

Do you have a rooftop?

Inasmuch as all buildings have roofs (ideally), yes, but we’re a very grounded bar, both literally and figuratively. Perhaps you’re thinking of The Skylark, a cocktail bar in Manhattan with a rooftop lounge and whatnot that opened later in the same year we did.

Do you have a backyard?

Yes, but it’s where we keep our trashcans and any bartender who’s in time-out. All that sidewalk and street seating you see on the way into the bar is ours, though!

What’s your dog policy?

We welcome all service animals that meet state guidelines! We also have plenty of outdoor seating if the only service your animal provides is being a cute little bud.

Do you host private events?

We do! People have had their weddings, receptions, birthdays, engagements, book launches, and a lot of other things here (people seem to like us!)! Again, give party@skylark a shout!

Do you serve food?

Again, nominally, all bars have to serve food, but after a long pandemic filled with assorted crockpots of hot dogs, veggie dogs, and (amazingly) meatballs, we have returned to doing what we do best: serving people drinks and the bare minimum to meet state requirements for serving food (chips and dips, pretty much).

Do you allow outside food?

Oh hell yes! Just, you know, maybe think about the smell factor before you pick a cuisine that might smoke out the rest of our patrons.

Are you interested in hosting my live comedy/music/poetry/clambake?

Sorry, we’re just not set up for those kind of performances. And besides, our liquor license literally says, “Recorded music only.” And we’re not about to play your live comedy album over our sound systems.

Our friends at Young Ethel’s and Freddy’s, though, are fantastic performance spaces that are always looking for live acts! Also, what would a “live clambake” even entail?

Was Guillermo really the biggest baby born in Spain when he was born?

Oh, absolutely. He was overtaken in 2012 by the daughter of a Portuguese man and an English nurse, and while we don’t have the figures, that means he’s possibly still the biggest native-born Spaniard!

Are you hiring?

Usually not, but feel free to drop off a resume with the attending bartender! Please be aware that we do not currently staff any barback positions, as our bartenders are truly excellent and do not need assistance.
